Halloween Events Have Begun in WW!

I apologize in advance for my atrocious attempts at alliteration
So now that you have your pets clad in creepy costumes and your house in spooky splendor, it's time for more Halloween haunts for you and your Webkinz!

Participate in a chilling challenge: the Halloween 2012 Challenge is up! Go to your pet's room to begin the 3-part Challenge, which starts today and goes on until October 31! The grand prize isn't really a surprise--it's in the Challenge icon--it's the eStore Midnight Monster Golem!

Here are the prizes:

Stage 1: 50 KinzCash, Chocolate Tombstone to eat.

Stage 2: Slimesicle to eat, Bloodcurdling Bat Sticker to place on a wall

Stage 3: eStore Midnight Monster Golem furniture item.  Well that escalated quickly

At the same time, you can satisfy your cravings for candies with the Halloween Candy Challenge! On the Map to Kinzville, click on the Vampire Pop that should be there, next to the My Page button. Just for clicking on it, you get a piece of candy; then, ask your friends for more pieces! You can gain an additional piece from finding an advertisement on WKN, but that's giving out Fall Fest prizes right now so that's good luck for those who missed a few but not so much for those who'd rather get candies. You can only get 5 pieces of candy per day from friends...or buy them for 500 eStore points (50 cents) a pop instead. Either way, you're either out 5 days of asking and clicking, or 15,000 eStore points (15$).

Here are the milestones:
5 pieces of Candy gets you an edible Vampire Pop.
10 pieces of Candy gets you a Vampire Costume your pet can wear.
20 pieces of Candy gets you a Frightening Lightning Window, a retired Halloween item that can be placed on your wall.
30 pieces of Candy gets you a Haunted Hickory Sapling which you can plant in your yard and decorate.

Then, check back in on October 20 in the Clubhouse for the Ghost! Same as it's been for years, just hang out in a Clubhouse room until the Ghost appears. Then, click on him and get a piece of candy! The Ghost will keep coming back until October 31. Collect all the pieces of candy he has to give you and get a special prize!
This year, the Ghost will exclusively appear in the Reading Room.

Eager Beavers Announce Future Change to Kinzville!

According to Nuts and Bolts, the hosts of the game Eager Beaver, a great change that will "change the face of Kinzville" is going to occur on October 17, 2012.

We have no idea what this change is but cross your fingers that it isn't a total conversion to 3-D graphics because there will be a lot of boycotting if that happens. Most of it will be from me.

And now for something completely different: a Pokemon promotion!

I was surprised, too! To promote the US release of Pokemon Black and White 2, players who have not blocked 3rd party ads on their accounts will see a floating Pokeball from September 26 to October 21st. And the what is the prize for clicking on it? A Pokeball to put in your pet's room? An Oran Berry to feed to them (automatically increasing their health by 10)? A plush Pikachu? A Pokedex? A copy of Pokemon Special? Misty's overalls? The hat from the protagonist of Emerald, which would look adorable on your pet?

Nope. You get 50 KinzCash.

PSI & PSF for October 2012 Rockerz and Signature; Halloween Virtual Pet; Snowflake Puppy Revealed!

Starting off, we have October 2012's Signature Pet, the African Wild Dog!

This hound has taken the hunt to an all new level with its PSI, the Gyrostalker! When the day is done, it settles down to a dinner of Wild Beast Brisket.

Or you could stick to something more urban, with the Rockerz Bunny and its PSI, Boom Box Bed, and PSF, Microphone Snow Cone!

If you'd rather spend the day at the beach instead, then the Rockerz Dog can help get the party started with its PSI, the Reggae DJ Booth! Maybe it'll share some of its PSF, Spicy Chicken and Rice?

If you'd like some more life in your party, then the Rockerz Poodle is for you! Get some Disco Ball Cereal to energize, then get out there on the Disco Dance Floor!

But we all know that home is where the heart is...so head on over to the Rockerz Horse concert, where you're sure to feel at home! With its Country Banjo Stage PSI and Blueberry and Bluegrass Cobbler, you'll have a mighty fine time!

For the 2012 Holidays, share some Snowflake Frosted Cookies with the merry Snowflake Puppy, then watch the snow fall from its PSI, Snowy Globe Chair.

For all of the major holidays celebrated in Webkinz World--October, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day--there is a plush Webkinz, and a virtual-only Webkinz for each.

Take a deep breath, now.
One, two, three...
Squee!

Others may not find it so cute, but keep in mind this is my favorite Webkinz pet, made for my favorite season, modeled after my favorite candy. I. Am. Sold.

The Candy Corn Mouse is Halloween 2012's eStore pet, announced on Facebook, and comes with Petrifying Popcorn to nibble on and a Pumpkin Carving Station! Carrying on the tradition of Webkinz Mice coming with tables for PSI.
Now we just need a Mouse with hearts for ears and a Mouse with shamrocks on its paws!

Halloween Arrives in Webkinz World!

Players logging into their accounts today should find their Halloween gifts waiting for them in their docks.

Unless you have an Asian account; if this is the case, Halloween was yesterday.

I won't post pictures of the Halloween Gifts until tomorrow, so nobody has the surprise ruined for them.

Now, for more details on Halloween in Webkinz World...

• The Halloween Theme will be available until November 7, 2011. After that date, all items in the theme will disappear until next Halloween. As with any seasonal theme, there is no way to tell what will return next year and what won't, so stock up now!
• The Halloween Mission continues until November 5.
• The Clubhouse Ghost will cease to appear after today, so if you don't have your Jack-O'-Lantern yet, go and get the rest of the candy. The time has been shortened to a 1 hour wait between candies, so if you already got a few candies, then it shouldn't take too long.
• For some reason, the Super Wheel, which has appeared in previous Halloweens since 2009, decided not to show up this year. Alas.

Ganz Adds Halloween Mission to Webkinz World

This fun new feature was added today (yesterday on Asian accounts). Players who log in today will find, in their Room, a spiderweb in the corner. Click on that spiderweb, and this window will appear...

It works much like the Key to Kinzville quests, in the sense that you must complete certain tasks to win certain prizes. You must complete the Key to Kinzville tasks before you can do the Halloween Mission.
We've put the prizes in spoilers in case you don't want to know them early; just highlight the red bars to learn the prizes.
The tasks for Mission One:

• Buy any 3 Halloween costume pieces from the KinzStyle Outlet
• Show off your costume by taking your pet for a stroll around the Kinzville Park*
• Earn a total of 2,000 points playing Candy Bash in the Arcade**

**you don't need to get that many points on the first try, just accumulate that many points over time.
*You don't actually need to enter the park; just as far as the signs where you choose KinzChat or KinzChat+.

The prize for Mission One: Night Witch Actor; Licorice Bats.

The tasks for Mission Two:

• Buy any item from the Halloween Theme in the W-Shop
• Feed your pet 5 Chocolate Bars
• Earn 30 KinzCash playing Candy Bash 2 at the Arcade***

***Again, this can be accumulated over time.
The prize for Mission Two: 50 KinzCash; Pile of Halloween Jellybeans.

The tasks for Mission Three:

• Send a KinzPost to any Webkinz Host on your Friends List
• Feed your pet 10 SuperMega Toothbusters
• Earn a total of 2,000 points playing Home Before Dark in the Arcade****

****Again, the points can be accumulated over time.

The Prize for Mission Three:

Halloween Updates in WW and Webkinz Newz

Included in these updates are:

The Ghost returning to the Webkinz Clubhouse

A sneak-peek of a new pet

Click-To-Win, with prizes including eStore costume pieces

The Ghost has returned to the Clubhouse.

Every Halloween, a Ghost will appear in the Clubhouse. The way this works is that you just hang out in one room (or hop from room to room like a frog playing hopscotch, if you prefer) and eventually, the Ghost will appear. Click on him when he does show up, and he'll give you a piece of candy. Upon collecting 12 pieces of candy, the player is rewarded with a Jack-O'-Lantern they can carve and display in their WW room. In 2010, Spooky the Mazin' Hamster replaced the Ghost, but for 2011, the Ghost is giving the candy.

In past years, a piece of candy could be collected once every three hours, and the time limit would shorten as the days neared to Halloween. This year, it appears that the programmers can't decide what the time limit is--some people can collect multiple pieces of candy at a time, others must wait one hour between candies, others must wait three. Ganz has acknowledged this issue and has reported that they are investigating it.
Edit: It appears that the limit is sticking strictly to 3 hours between candies.

If you don't want to wait for the candy, you may buy the pieces at 1,000 eStore points (1$) apiece. It will take 36 hours to get all 12 pieces of candy if you get each piece one after the other.

One of the December 2011 Webkinz pets has been revealed at Webkinz Newz.

This pet is called the "Darling Dino", and...I have nothing more I wish to add to this. Here, have a picture.

Methinks Webkinz Jr.

Hey, at least it's a new dinosaur! ^ ^

There's a new Click-To-Win at Webkinz Newz.

In this Click-To-Win, you search for Spooky the Mazin' Hamster's head floating around Webkinz Newz.

As always, one prize per account per day, and some prizes are rarer than others. Spooky will be flying October 20-31, and not on October 22, 25, or 29.

Here are the prizes:

Any one of the items from the W-Shop Halloween theme, including new items. (does this mean you can win them regardless of if they are retired or not?)

The full Modern Vampire costume

Otherwise found at the eStore for 6,500 points

or the full Vogue Vampire costume!

Otherwise found at the eStore for 6,500 points

Halloween Peek-A-Newz!

This Peek-A-Newz, containing 6 unique prizes, will be running from October 1 to October 31.

Here are the prizes...

The rules for Spree! have changed.

Previously, when a player landed on a space for a shopping bag they already had, their turn was over.

Pumpkin Puppy PSI and PSF!

Ganz has recently released the virtual image for this year's Halloween pet, the Pumpkin Puppy.

The Pumpkin Puppy with its PSI, the Spooky Jack-O-Lantern Chair, and its PSF, Trickier Treats.

I like the PSF, but the PSI is lacking somewhat. Maybe it's animated?
The virtual image is very cute, simple and unique.

I give this pet 8/10 stars. What do you think?

Lots of new features in Webkinz World!

Lots of new things have been added in today's update!
Firstly, we have 2 new party packs in the W-Shop: the Beach Party and the Summer Party.

To celebrate Friendship Month, you can now add Webkinz Hosts as friends.
Don't send the requests from your phone: they'll request you! You must complete a specific task for each host, however:
Arte Fact: Look for gems in the Gem Hunt.
Ms. Cowoline: Complete 3 classes at the Kinzville Academy.
Debbie: Buy a ticket at the Travel Agency.
Sheldon: Buy an item from the Souvenir Shack
Tabby: Complete a job at the Employment Office
Amanda: Make a wish at the Wish Factory
Fred: Look at the Stadium Schedule
PJ: Buy an item at the Kinzstyle Outlet

When you complete any one of the tasks, the respective host will send you a friend request. You can choose to deny the request if you want.

There is a new Treasure Hunt at the Webkinz Newz.
The goal of the Treasure Hunts is to search for clues, and when you find all 6, you'll win a free virtual Webkinz Figure! You get everything you'd receive with a figure code: a virtual figure, the special item it comes with, and, if it's your first figure, a display case for it and access to Woodland Wonders, a location in the Magical Forest that is only unlocked with a figure. The more figures you have on your account, the better prizes you can win from Woodland Wonders!

The figures are pretty tiny, though--this is how they look in a zoomed-in room.

Previously, the figure to be won was the Breaking News Cocker Spaniel Figure. Its Figure Specific Item is the Webkinz Newspaper Box.
Currently, the figure to be won is the Dear Diary Leopard. Its Figure Specific Item is the Secret Dreams Diary.

Just for fun, you can give your figures names. I named my Cocker Spaniel figure Skip, and my Leopard figure will be named Leslie.

Here's the link to the Treasure Hunt, if you want to participate. Better hurry! The hunt for the Breaking News Cocker Spaniel figure ends June 30, and the hunt for the Dear Diary Leopard figure ends on July 15.

There are new clothing items at PJ Collie's Store!
And just in time for Summer!

A new activity has been added to the Webkinz Newz.
It's called the "Pick N' Win." Each day, there will be a poll, a quiz, and a survey. By completing any of these, you'll win a random amount of Kinz Cash between 10-500! You can also view the results for the survey and the poll, so you can see what other Webkinz World players think!

And...The plush image for the Halloween 2011 Pet has been released at Webkinz Newz!

This little sweetie will be at Webkinz retailers in August. Why not October, you may wonder? Because seasonal pets are released 2 months before the holiday.

The Pumpkin Puppy is the seasonal Webkinz for Halloween 2011. Hmm...We've had a Clover Puppy and then a St. Patrick's Day Setter, a Love Puppy and then a Love Spaniel, and now a Pumpkin Puppy...perhaps next year we'll have a Halloween Hound? We'll have to wait and see!
