Halloween Events Have Begun in WW!

 I apologize in advance for my atrocious attempts at alliteration
So now that you have your pets clad in creepy costumes and your house in spooky splendor, it's time for more Halloween haunts for you and your Webkinz!

Participate in a chilling challenge: the Halloween 2012 Challenge is up! Go to your pet's room to begin the 3-part Challenge, which starts today and goes on until October 31! The grand prize isn't really a surprise--it's in the Challenge icon--it's the eStore Midnight Monster Golem!

Here are the prizes:

Stage 1: 50 KinzCash, Chocolate Tombstone to eat.

Stage 2: Slimesicle to eat, Bloodcurdling Bat Sticker to place on a wall

Stage 3: eStore Midnight Monster Golem furniture item.  Well that escalated quickly

At the same time, you can satisfy your cravings for candies with the Halloween Candy Challenge! On the Map to Kinzville, click on the Vampire Pop that should be there, next to the My Page button. Just for clicking on it, you get a piece of candy; then, ask your friends for more pieces! You can gain an additional piece from finding an advertisement on WKN, but that's giving out Fall Fest prizes right now so that's good luck for those who missed a few but not so much for those who'd rather get candies. You can only get 5 pieces of candy per day from friends...or buy them for 500 eStore points (50 cents) a pop instead. Either way, you're either out 5 days of asking and clicking, or 15,000 eStore points (15$).

Here are the milestones:
5 pieces of Candy gets you an edible Vampire Pop.
10 pieces of Candy gets you a Vampire Costume your pet can wear.
20 pieces of Candy gets you a Frightening Lightning Window, a retired Halloween item that can be placed on your wall.
30 pieces of Candy gets you a Haunted Hickory Sapling which you can plant in your yard and decorate. 

Then, check back in on October 20 in the Clubhouse for the Ghost! Same as it's been for years, just hang out in a Clubhouse room until the Ghost appears. Then, click on him and get a piece of candy! The Ghost will keep coming back until October 31. Collect all the pieces of candy he has to give you and get a special prize!
This year, the Ghost will exclusively appear in the Reading Room.

Eager Beavers Announce Future Change to Kinzville!

According to Nuts and Bolts, the hosts of the game Eager Beaver, a great change that will "change the face of Kinzville" is going to occur on October 17, 2012.

We have no idea what this change is but cross your fingers that it isn't a total conversion to 3-D graphics because there will be a lot of boycotting if that happens. Most of it will be from me.

And now for something completely different: a Pokemon promotion!

I was surprised, too! To promote the US release of Pokemon Black and White 2, players who have not blocked 3rd party ads on their accounts will see a floating Pokeball from September 26 to October 21st. And the what is the prize for clicking on it? A Pokeball to put in your pet's room? An Oran Berry to feed to them (automatically increasing their health by 10)? A plush Pikachu? A Pokedex? A copy of Pokemon Special? Misty's overalls? The hat from the protagonist of Emerald, which would look adorable on your pet?






Nope. You get 50 KinzCash.

Something you don't want to miss: Rock Star Outfit Available Today

The Rock Star Outfit is the source of those "priceless" Rock Star Sunglasses, most commonly known as "shuts". If you find yourself being driven batty in search of those glasses which are apparently worth very very much then today (September 16) only, go onto WKN and wait for the floating Midnight Monster to appear. (you'll have to search around.) Click on it, enter your account information, and you shall find a Rock Star Outfit, complete with boots, shirt, torn jeans, and shuts, in your Dock.

Some people aren't too thrilled about this--some worked very hard to get the glasses, some are proud of getting them in a Webkinz shirt code (the original way to get the outfit) and have kept them since then, and the general worry is of their worth dropping.

My thoughts on this?

...how does it actually serve as Sunglasses and keep the sun out of your eyes, when there's not lenses, but lines? (additional note: how does one see through them?)
And why isn't it the shirt that's in high demand? That thing's awesome.

Fall Fest 2012 Dates and Prizes Announced!

WHOO HOO! Fall Fest is fast approaching!

An event that has lasted since 2007, Fall Fest is a time when Webkinz World players everywhere can celebrate Autumn! Though it originally was an October event, from 2008 onward it has taken place in September. The basic gist of the Fest is that you can log in to your WW account and search for leaves, which float periodically across your screen, which, when clicked on, will give you a special prize! Every year, a few new prizes are introduced, and some from previous years are brought back, while some prizes may never return again. Some prizes are rarer than others, and from food to furniture, from decorations to hats, boots, and coats, all of them are fall-based!

2012 Prizes

These are the new prizes for this year!

There's a basket of logs, a coat, a pile of leaves, donuts, a basket of apples, a log cabin (unknown size), and a potted tree. Their names haven't been announced (except for the Maple Donuts and Apple Basket), nor do we know of what prizes from previous years will be available.WKN only mentions that "some old favorites" will return.
That giant Orchard Apple Tree is a potential prize if you feed your pet some Fall Fest Fudge! This Fudge costs eStore points, and potentially gives regular 2012 Fall Fest Prizes upon being fed to your pet as well. Wait, wait, wait. How do you explain that you found a cabin in a piece of Fudge?
The Orchard Apple Tree gives your pet an Apple a day. Unknown about the effect this will have on doctors.

When is Fall Fest 2012?

It lasts from September 14 to September 22 this year. 

This is actually 2 days longer than the usual 6-day Fests we've seen for the past 4 years!
Somewhat ironically, Fall Fest this year ends on the day Fall begins.

Are there limits on how many leaves you can catch?

Yes.

Edit: Contrary to my previous assumption, leaves fall on the 14th thru the 16th, not the 14th and the 16th. This means 10 extra leaves! Woo hoo~

On Friday, September 14, Sunday, Saturday, September 15th, September 16th, and Saturday, September 22, you may catch 10 leaves per day.
From Monday, September 17, to Friday, September 21, you may catch 5 leaves per day.
"But that's not fair!"
Hear me out for a sec.
There are 4 days of 10 leaves to catch, then 4 days of 5 leaves to catch. 4x10=30. 4x5=20. 30+30=60. That's 60 decorations, clothes, foodstuffs, and furniture, some of which is really cool, to collect! Double, or even triple, that amount if you have multiple accounts, and you can throw one heck of a party.

What else is there besides leaves in Webkinz World?

Well, knowing WKN, they'll probably start up a Peek-A-Newz for extra prizes. Or an ad hunt! Look at that. From September 14-22, Webkinz fans can search around WKN for these ads:

Clicking on them will give you a prize from Fall Fest! It is unknown what will be available.
Also, during Fall Fest is a Midnight Monster Click-To-Win that lasts until September 26. Every day gives a surprise!

Two new Challenges have been added in Webkinz World.

These next few weeks, at least, will be a doozy for players keeping up with their Challenges!

The first is CampKinz Canoe Trip, which is unlocked after completing the CampKinz Counselor challenge. This Canoe Trip challenge is categorized as a Mega Challenge, which, according to WKN, has "more challenging tasks and better prizes". This challenge is the first Mega Challenge in Webkinz World!

And by Mega, they are not kidding. I just checked, and these are the first three tasks in the challenge:

Ask your friends for 30 Maps

Earn a total of 25,000 points playing Pinky's Big Adventure

And...earn a total of 250 KinzCash playing Zacky's Quest in the Arcade

Dear goodness. It's a good thing that those KinzCash and points will accumulate over plays, so you don't have to get it all in one shot. Let's get to playing, I suppose! 

The second challenge is Plumpy's Great Advice, named after the book of the same name. It is unlocked after completing the Smarty Pants challenge. If you have a free vacation ticket, save it for this challenge--you will need it. This challenge is much easier in comparison to the one above--buy a hat, buy a book, earn 3,000 points in Goober's Lab. There are, however, 6 sets of tasks.

Contrary to what the WKN article said, the Webkinz Road Trip map has not been added to the site. 

The article in question said that the Road Trip map would be added to the site on April 25, but they either haven't put it there yet, or they did and just hid it really well. 

A Retro Replay Video Challenge has been added to the POTM video, "Tiger Tiger". 

The video, which was made for the Bengal Tiger (POTM for July two years ago) featured an unidentified pink monkey wearing some sort of dress that you couldn't find anywhere else. The monkey later turned out to be a Glamorous Gorilla, which was released a few months later. And now, you can get her outfit, too!

They finally fixed that thing where when you win stuff it doesn't show up in a window

Here, here, let me explain it.

A lot of months back, Ganz added a feature where, when you won a prize from WKN, a window would appear upon logging into your account that would tell you exactly what you won. This was a really helpful feature, especially for click-to-wins with random prizes, as there is an incredibly high amount of players who had so many items in their docks that they couldn't take the time to discover what they'd won.

Unfortunately, a few months later, accounts with a certain amount of pets found that the window didn't show up for them anymore. Eventually, nobody was able to see the window.

As of today's update, my account with 16 pets on it is able to see the window! (where we discover that we've won yet another rain coat.)

And in Let's Talk Webkinz related news, sometime today, we reached our 10,000th pageview!

Plus, we got 99 pageviews in all of yesterday, which happens to be the current record on this blog. Huzzah! The viewership has been doubled!

Webkinz World Runs Promotion for The Lorax

Webkinz Newz has announced that, starting on Feb. 16, a promotion for the new movie, The Lorax, will run through Webkinz World. Features of this promotion include:

• A Lorax-themed twist on the Arcade game, Where's Wacky
• A Lorax Click-To-Win event in Webkinz World from Feb. 18 to March 3, 2012, with exclusive prizes to be won
• Gift boxes awarded upon logging in on Feb. 29, March 1, and March 2
• The Adventure Park will be once again opened to Webkinz World Members, regardless of if they own an Adventure Park pet or not, for a special quest that is available from Feb. 16 until March 4. The only requirement is that your account has third-party content enabled. Otherwise, seeing as how this is a third-party promotion, your account will ignore the quest.

Wednesday Updates 1/2/12

As promised, the Valentine's Day Quest has been added to the Adventure Park for anyone to play.


However, the author's computer cannot tolerate a room with 10 Webkinz in it, much less the park with 45 Webkinz in it like the one I found myself in, so details on this new Quest will be added at a later hour, perhaps in its own post. I do know that you have to talk to Alex the Tiger to start the Quest, if this helps anyone, and that, among other neat prizes, the Grand Prize for this Quest is the Chocolate Factory Machine (which is animated, too!).

Remember that this Quest ends when February does, and afterward the Quests are limited to just AP pets, so play while you can!

Three new Exclusives have been added.

In place of the Elephant Fountain, Wading Pool, and Tractor that were retired today, three new Exclusive Items have been added to the Wish Factory. If your pet is a budding scientist, then the Time Machine is for them...make sure they read the user's manual first! Speaking of the past, the Medieval Torch is a perfect addition to that castle your pet's been working on. Or perhaps they prefer to preform? If so, then the Dance Rehearsal Costume Rack will fit nicely in their room. 

Two new Challenges have been added.

Does your pet have team spirit? If you answered yes, then there's a perfect challenge for them: the Cheerleader Tryout Challenge. This is a 3-part challenge. Also, the Kinzville Babysitter Crew Challenge is available, which contains 2 sets of tasks. This Challenge is for Deluxe members only!

 This is a normal Video Challenge, featuring A Dog With A Bow In Her Hair, the POTM song for the White Terrier, the Pet of the Month for February 2010. Wednesday Updates 18/1/12

As promised, the new game, "Scrambled", is out in the Arcade for all to play. 

I express slight concern for the omelet-making chickens.

Valarie VonScribe at Webkinz Newz has posted a how-to video, in case you need a little bit of help. 
In this new game, players are given the role of a chef for a restaurant, serving omelets to hungry Webkinz customers. You earn 1 KinzCash per every 40 points. 
You are given a flat of 12 eggs at the beginning of each level, and they don't regenerate until the start of the next level, so try not to waste them! 

This is what the layout will look like.

At the beginning of each level, a customer will arrive. Click on the customer to get their order.
Wherever the customer sits is where their order appears on that metal clipboard ring up there--for instance, a customer sitting on the far left side of the screen will have their order appear on the far left side of the ring.

Now that you know the customer's order, you can begin to make it. First, click on the egg flat to put the egg in the blender. (the eggshells automatically move to the trashcan under the counter.
Next, click on the bowl with whatever filling the customer wants for their omelet. In this case, it's onion, so click on the bowl with green chunks in it, and it will be added to the blender. Finally, click on the blender to mix it up, and click on the grill in front of your pet to start frying.

At first the omelet will look like this. After a few seconds, it will turn golden brown. Click on it when it does to fold it in half, and wait until it turns golden brown again. Then, click on the customer who ordered that omelet to give it to them.

Now you have served the first customer! Repeat these steps for every customer.
Some tricks I have discovered are:
Put the filling in the blender before the eggs to save a few seconds of time.
You can multitask. For instance, take an order while mixing up the omelet, and serve the omelet to a customer while preparing another one.
If your memory is good, you can try to fry multiple omelets at the same time.
If frying multiple omelets, don't serve one to a customer while pouring another onto the grill. You'll lose the omelet you've just poured.
You can blend the omelet before the filling is all the way to the blender.

Unlike what I previously thought, the customers in the game are totally randomized Webkinz, not some of your own. However, the pet you're playing as is the chef. The game is a good choice for those who play games for KinzCash, however, it can get pretty confusing very quickly. Practice will be key for this game! 
Remember that you get a neat trophy if you get past Level 10. 

To celebrate this new game, Webkinz Newz is having a Click-To-Win. Daily from Jan. 19-27, 2012, (excepting Jan. 21 and 26) watch for a flying omelet at Webkinz Newz. Click on it and fill in the form to win an Omelet, Egg Chair, or Egg T-Shirt! Exciting!

 The Christmas Theme has been released at the W-Shop.

Oh my. I must say that this year's Christmas theme is amazing! At longest last, we have been provided with play houses for Webkinz to play in...and at a very modest price, too!

This year's theme is called the Christmas Carol theme. It only goes outdoors or in treetop rooms, but the design uses these limits for a good purpose.

Also, a great piece of news for Webkinz players still on the Teacher's Pet challenge: The challenge "send your pet to recess", which can take a maximum of 15 days to do, has been changed to "feed your pet 10 apples". Huzzah!

 If it is November 24 in your account's time zone, you'll get this gift no matter when Thanksgiving is observed in your area. The Thanksgiving gift contains two food items: Chocolate Pecan Pie and Thanksgiving Dinner, and a furniture piece: Cornucopia Chair. The Arthur Christmas gift contains a letter to Santakinz (decoration), a chattering teeth toy (decoration) and a Candy Cane (food).

Walrus Treasure Hunt: Complete this Treasure Hunt to win a virtual Pop Groovin' Gorilla figurine. This Treasure Hunt ends on November 30.

November 1: Click-To-Win for the Too Cool Ball Cap; Autumn Owl Contest begins; Adventure Park Peek-A-Newz begins. This Peek-A-Newz works exactly like the Adventure Park Peek-A-Newz that was run in August, only this time, you look for Alex the Tiger and win a Kinz Crew plushie or a poster. The Autumn Owl (picture above) is a new pet that will come to the eStore on November 12. The contest is to design a fall-themed garden.

Halloween Updates in WW and Webkinz Newz

The Ghost returning to the Webkinz Clubhouse

A sneak-peek of a new pet

 The Ghost has returned to the Clubhouse.

Every Halloween, a Ghost will appear in the Clubhouse. The way this works is that you just hang out in one room (or hop from room to room like a frog playing hopscotch, if you prefer) and eventually, the Ghost will appear. Click on him when he does show up, and he'll give you a piece of candy. Upon collecting 12 pieces of candy, the player is rewarded with a Jack-O'-Lantern they can carve and display in their WW room. In 2010, Spooky the Mazin' Hamster replaced the Ghost, but for 2011, the Ghost is giving the candy.

In past years, a piece of candy could be collected once every three hours, and the time limit would shorten as the days neared to Halloween. This year, it appears that the programmers can't decide what the time limit is--some people can collect multiple pieces of candy at a time, others must wait one hour between candies, others must wait three. Ganz has acknowledged this issue and has reported that they are investigating it.
Edit: It appears that the limit is sticking strictly to 3 hours between candies.


If you don't want to wait for the candy, you may buy the pieces at 1,000 eStore points (1$) apiece. It will take 36 hours to get all 12 pieces of candy if you get each piece one after the other.

One of the December 2011 Webkinz pets has been revealed at Webkinz Newz.

This pet is called the "Darling Dino", and...I have nothing more I wish to add to this. Here, have a picture.

In this Click-To-Win, you search for Spooky the Mazin' Hamster's head floating around Webkinz Newz.
