Ms. Birdy's Countdown to Christmas: Day 1

Ms. Birdy has arrived in the clubhouse!

Go to the Santakinz room and you will find her there (if you don't, wait for a few minutes--she appears, stays around for a minute, disappears, and then comes back about five minutes later). Click on her and she will give you a Countdown To Christmas prize that you can only get today.

 This event will keep going until December 25, so keep coming back daily to get all of the prizes! If you do, you'll get a bonus badge for your My Page.

2012 marks the third year in a row that this event has occurred.

 

Players today are also surprised to find a gift from another game of Ganz's, called Nakamas. 

This gift is a Huggy Hoodie that the player will find upon logging in.

Halloween Events Have Begun in WW!

So now that you have your pets clad in creepy costumes and your house in spooky splendor, it's time for more Halloween haunts for you and your Webkinz!

Participate in a chilling challenge: the Halloween 2012 Challenge is up! Go to your pet's room to begin the 3-part Challenge, which starts today and goes on until October 31! The grand prize isn't really a surprise--it's in the Challenge icon--it's the eStore Midnight Monster Golem!

Here are the prizes:

Stage 1: 50 KinzCash, Chocolate Tombstone to eat.

Stage 2: Slimesicle to eat, Bloodcurdling Bat Sticker to place on a wall

Stage 3: eStore Midnight Monster Golem furniture item.  Well that escalated quickly

At the same time, you can satisfy your cravings for candies with the Halloween Candy Challenge! On the Map to Kinzville, click on the Vampire Pop that should be there, next to the My Page button. Just for clicking on it, you get a piece of candy; then, ask your friends for more pieces! You can gain an additional piece from finding an advertisement on WKN, but that's giving out Fall Fest prizes right now so that's good luck for those who missed a few but not so much for those who'd rather get candies. You can only get 5 pieces of candy per day from friends...or buy them for 500 eStore points (50 cents) a pop instead. Either way, you're either out 5 days of asking and clicking, or 15,000 eStore points (15$).

Here are the milestones:
5 pieces of Candy gets you an edible Vampire Pop.
10 pieces of Candy gets you a Vampire Costume your pet can wear.
20 pieces of Candy gets you a Frightening Lightning Window, a retired Halloween item that can be placed on your wall.
30 pieces of Candy gets you a Haunted Hickory Sapling which you can plant in your yard and decorate. 

Then, check back in on October 20 in the Clubhouse for the Ghost! Same as it's been for years, just hang out in a Clubhouse room until the Ghost appears. Then, click on him and get a piece of candy! The Ghost will keep coming back until October 31. Collect all the pieces of candy he has to give you and get a special prize!
This year, the Ghost will exclusively appear in the Reading Room.

The Spring 2012 Clothing Items Released To KinzStyle Outlet; Winter 2012 Line Retired 2 Weeks Earlier Than Announced

Not a large array of clothing this Spring, but what is offered is quite nice! I'm particularly fond of that Zum Buckled Belt.

Additionally, the entire Winter 2012 line has been retired a full update later than expected! WKN announced that these clothes would be retired from the KinzStyle Outlet on April 25, but this is apparently no longer true. You can see all of these clothes in this LTW article.

A new Roleplaying room has been added to the Clubhouse. 

This new room is called the "Glam Boutique", and it's the perfect place to let your inner girly girl frolic. (Or to stay far far away from. The WKN article uses the word "glam/glamorous" 7 times not including the headline, so...)
There are lines for a stylist, a receptionist, and a client.

Webkinz have hair. Invisible hair. It's canon!(?)

Congrats, random Jellybean Puppy/Pig/Tawny Pup/Chipmunk, you're in the news. (I'm the Okapi.)

 Webkinz has released a new Lite App for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. 

This game is called "Cloud Corral", and it's free to play up to level 5. It is not in the Webkinz World Arcade, too--app only!

Shiny Zumbuddy! His name is Zoom.

In this game, you need "ample wit and skill" to defeat those clouds sent in by Nafaria. How? We dunno; WKN wasn't too detailed. Buy purchasing the full version of Cloud Corral, you can collect KinzCash to send to your Webkinz World account.

The second half of the Creative Studio theme has been released in the W-Shop.

It consists of :

-Art Easel, 200 KC. Click on it and it will paint a picture for you.
-Art Painting Wall Art, 90 KC. Features the same scene the Art Easel paints.
-Art Station, 400 KC.
-Beanstalk Art Poster, 60 KC.

Click-To-Win Failures
Webkinz fans that stop by Webkinz Newz may be pleasantly surprised to find a floating, spinning dial wandering about the page. According to the WKN article, clicking on this dial should give you a piece of Zodiac clothing.
However, fans who have tried may instead respond to this dial with a sigh of irritation and an attempt to ignore it. Why is this?
The answer is simple: Because the event is not working.
 Upon clicking on the dial, WKN appears to struggle with finding the page. When it does, all you find there is a message that blatantly states:

Warning: Page has Expired
This page is no longer available.

Refreshing the page; going back, finding the dial, and clicking on it again; waiting for a few hours and coming back; going to another page on the site--none of these work. Do not take this as the official reason, but my suspicion is that one department wrote the article announcing the event, another set it up so the dial would fly on the days it was supposed to, but then the department that was supposed to tell the site to [click dial>go to page with form on it>send item to account] had their computer break or something of the like. 3 days into the event, and absolutely nothing has been announced about attempts to solve this being made. 

Fans are frustrated, impatient, and annoyed with this unfortunate series of events. 

Customer Service Issues
Especially considering the Click-To-Win issues, Customer Service at Ganz has been tied up all week, with most folks reporting that they can't even get on the phone with them. If you have an issue with your Webkinz World account and would like to try your luck with the lines, the phone number for Webkinz Customer Service is 1-866-932-5469.

Trading Hall News:
The Trading Hall can be a bit scary, that's why Skylar Tune (My Harmony puppy)  is here to help. Skylar knows all about the trading hall and she would like to share some helpful tips and secrets, so let's get started.
Getting Started:
Before you go to the Trading Hall look at your dock, check to see if you have Rare, exclusive, Pet of the Month, Webkinz Care, Super Beds, trading card items, Charm Forest, Woodland Wonders, trophies, PSI, clothing, or Deluxe items. If you have that, then great, you are ready! If you don't have that, than look around your house for any items like that, that you would like to trade.
Going To The Trading Hall:
Before you go to the Trading Hall look at your pet, check to see what your pet is wearing and what pet  is going to the trading hall with you. When you go to the trading hall make sure you dress the best. Try to wear rare, Deluxe, eStore, or retired clothing. If you wear things like that then other Webkinz will think that you have rare, Deluxe, retired, or nice things to trade. Remember that cool, rare or eStore hats are always good. Now look at your pet: try to use the newest Webkinz you have or an eStore or signature. If they see you with a new pet with a good PSI than they will think you have good PSI's.
 Making A Trade:
When you are Trading always be kind, but also remember don't give things away for free. If someone says it's rare, but you're not sure, then:
                A. Tell them to hang on, and open another window and look up the items and see if it's rare.
B. You can be like me and have a list of rare things, and check to see if it's rare.
or
C. You can take their word on it and make the trade.

When you go to the Trading Hall you need to know the value of your items. Some items are in higher demand than others. Back in October of 2011 everyone wanted the Timber Wolf PSI so, because everyone wanted it, it made the value go up. If you have tips about the Trading Hall, pics of your pet in Trading Hall, or you know an Item that's in demand please tell us!

The Leprechaun Visits the Clubhouse Starting Today

For St. Patrick's Day on March 17, Ganz has launched the "Catch the Leprechaun" Clubhouse Event today.
This will be the second year that the event has been going on. It starts today, March 7, and will run daily for the next ten days until St. Patrick's Day. This event is open to everyone, everywhere. 

All accounts are immediately entered in this event, though you can completely ignore it if you'd rather.  
To participate, you just go to any Clubhouse room, and wait for the Leprechaun, who will look like this:

Once the little guy appears, click on him to get 1 of 6 Jelly Coins. If you're impatient, just buy 'em all for 1,000 eStore points (1 US$) apiece!
Upon collecting all 6 coins, which can be fed to your pet, by the way, you will be given an exclusive fridge for use in your WW home.

The Leprechaun will show up at different times, in different rooms. Since Ganz did away with the room numbering system, he shows up in every room of its kind in its zone--for instance, if you were in the Girls Rule Room in the Yellow Zone, then everyone else who went to that room would also see him, even if your room was full so they were sent to another one.

 In a cartoon-Irish accent, he will announce his arrival by shouting out a phrase. This is handy for when you're just doing something else. He does not speak when he leaves, however. He stays in a room for about 1 minute, and then leaves.
You can collect 1 coin from him every 3 hours.

Wednesday Updates 18/1/12

As promised, the new game, "Scrambled", is out in the Arcade for all to play. 

I express slight concern for the omelet-making chickens.

Valarie VonScribe at Webkinz Newz has posted a how-to video, in case you need a little bit of help. 
In this new game, players are given the role of a chef for a restaurant, serving omelets to hungry Webkinz customers. You earn 1 KinzCash per every 40 points. 
You are given a flat of 12 eggs at the beginning of each level, and they don't regenerate until the start of the next level, so try not to waste them! 

This is what the layout will look like.

At the beginning of each level, a customer will arrive. Click on the customer to get their order.
Wherever the customer sits is where their order appears on that metal clipboard ring up there--for instance, a customer sitting on the far left side of the screen will have their order appear on the far left side of the ring.

Now that you know the customer's order, you can begin to make it. First, click on the egg flat to put the egg in the blender. (the eggshells automatically move to the trashcan under the counter.
Next, click on the bowl with whatever filling the customer wants for their omelet. In this case, it's onion, so click on the bowl with green chunks in it, and it will be added to the blender. Finally, click on the blender to mix it up, and click on the grill in front of your pet to start frying.

At first the omelet will look like this. After a few seconds, it will turn golden brown. Click on it when it does to fold it in half, and wait until it turns golden brown again. Then, click on the customer who ordered that omelet to give it to them.

Now you have served the first customer! Repeat these steps for every customer.
Some tricks I have discovered are:
Put the filling in the blender before the eggs to save a few seconds of time.
You can multitask. For instance, take an order while mixing up the omelet, and serve the omelet to a customer while preparing another one.
If your memory is good, you can try to fry multiple omelets at the same time.
If frying multiple omelets, don't serve one to a customer while pouring another onto the grill. You'll lose the omelet you've just poured.
You can blend the omelet before the filling is all the way to the blender.

Unlike what I previously thought, the customers in the game are totally randomized Webkinz, not some of your own. However, the pet you're playing as is the chef. The game is a good choice for those who play games for KinzCash, however, it can get pretty confusing very quickly. Practice will be key for this game! 
Remember that you get a neat trophy if you get past Level 10. 

To celebrate this new game, Webkinz Newz is having a Click-To-Win. Daily from Jan. 19-27, 2012, (excepting Jan. 21 and 26) watch for a flying omelet at Webkinz Newz. Click on it and fill in the form to win an Omelet, Egg Chair, or Egg T-Shirt! Exciting!

The Clubhouse has been updated, and The Classroom has been added.
Unfortunately, with the new layout, you cannot choose what room number you end up in, as it appears that this system has been done away with entirely and everybody ends up in the same room. 

I've made a list of the gains and losses from this new system.

Webkinz Newz Posts Sneak Peek of Updated Clubhouse Coming 18/1/12

Their account has 1 hundred million, one hundred and thirty-six thousand, six hundred and eighty Kinz Cash. What is this I don't even

 

Webkinz Newz has recently posted a sneak-peek of the new Clubhouse layout, seen above. This new layout will include color-coded rooms, coded by the color of the thumbtack; a room previewer, demonstrated below; and more rooms, one of which, The Classroom, we can already see. I'm hoping that, based on the extra space added to the board, that this will allow more rooms to be added without getting rid of currently existing ones.

It also appears that pets will be given more phrases to say. And, this could just be looking too hard, but see those items in the player's dock? They're all FSI (figure specific items). Could this be a secret sneak-peek of future Treasure Hunt prizes in the future? If so, then we'll all be able to search for Series 1 figurines. Provided this is true, then be prepared to find, in order of appearance--Summer Vacation Dalmatian figure, KinzPinz Panda figure, Soccer Star Chocolate Lab figure, Cool and Casual Pinto figure, Happy Birthday Cheeky Monkey figure, and Fire Chief Elephant figure.
Or I could be thinking too hard, and the player just likes to collect chairs. ^ ^

Countdown to Christmas Event Information

Today marks the start of the annual search for Ms. Birdy at the Clubhouse! This event will keep going from today, December 14, to December 26. Below, you will find some more information on this fun event...

• Ms. Birdy stays in the Santakinz Room all day, not moving to other rooms as she has in the past. This should make this event a breeze for those without much Webkinz World playing time, or those with lots of accounts. 
• There is a different prize each day. If you miss a day, you will not get the prize for the day you missed. 
• Holders of Deluxe accounts are supposed to be able to have full account benefits as long as their Deluxe account is active. However, Deluxe account holders who have not adopted a pet in 12 months are having this feature ignored by Ms. Birdy, who is telling them that they cannot participate in this event. It is hoped by many that this is merely a glitch, and, according to many customer service representatives, programmers are looking into this issue and should have it corrected promptly. 
• For visiting Ms. Birdy on all 12 days, and getting all 12 prizes, you are rewarded with a special badge for your My Page.

Ms. Birdy is Coming to the Clubhouse on the 14th

This is an event that has happened every December since 2008.

During this event, Ms. Birdy will visit the Clubhouse. Click on her and she will give you a gift exclusive to this event. You can only get one per day. 

In previous years, she has been all over the place, but for this year, she will be in the Santakinz Room only.

Ms. Birdy will give 1 gift per account per day. She appears every day, from December 14 to December 26. 

The only thing you get for collecting all 12 gifts is a badge for your My Page.

On a side note, a feature was added to your KinzChat phone that allows you to see what color zone your friends are in. Handy dandy!

Wednesday Updates 7/12/11

There is a new feature in Webkinz World: The Message Center.

Your dock will now look somewhat like this. You still have your money; I just edited mine out.

 As part of today's updates, Ganz has moved the KinzPost Mailbox and KinzChat phone to beside the Actions window, and added a new feature, the Message Center.

The Message Center is required for the most recent Challenge, the Snow Day Challenge, which will stick around until January 4, 2012.

One of the requirements for this challenge is to ask your friends for 10 cups of Candy Cane Cocoa. (or buy them at 500 eStore points apiece.) And no, you cannot ask Webkinz World hosts to help you. It does not cost anyone anything to send/receive the Cocoa. With the Message Center, you will be alerted when a friend asks you for some Candy Cane Cocoa. The Message Center will also tell you when you have a new friend request. 

Along with the Message Center is the Friend Finder. The Friend Finder will show you a list of Webkinz World players. The information displayed is their avatar, which is their current pet, a link to their My Page, the first 3 characters of their username, the first three characters of their pet's name, and the most recent day they've logged in, along with a button that, when clicked, sends a friend request to that person. You may only send 8 Friend Requests per day through the Friend Finder.

Below this list is a button that will add you to the Friend Finder list. You can add yourself, or just continue on. There are no little KinzCash bonuses or the like that will be awarded just for being on/using the Friend Finder list.

The Friend Finder is intended for use for Webkinz World players who don't have many active friends, or any friends at all, in their lists, and would like some help with Challenges, however anybody can use it.

I think the Message Center/Friend Finder are very useful. The Message Center isn't distracting, plus it makes KinzPost messages more visible, and the layout is quite nice. The Friend Finder is a very handy feature for those who need help with Challenges, yet don't want to go to the Clubhouse, or can't use KinzChat+, plus it gives no more information about you than what would be given anywhere else in Webkinz World.  I approve of these new features!

And now for some sneak-peeks of more Webkinz pets!

 This is the Dreamy Sheep, which comes with a Daydreamer's Window and a Midnight Snack. Are those coffee beans? Apparently this pet is supposed to come to stores in Spring. I'd love to see the plush, I bet it's the fuzziest thing ever, but the PSI is rather...plain. I bet it shows a vibrantly colored scene when clicked on, though. 

Now THAT is unique. This is the Sleepy Woodland Dragon, a virtual-only pet coming soon. Its PSI is a Cedar Toy Trunk, and its PSF is Crunchy Bark Bites. It's gonna look awesome in-game, just you wait. 

And this is another virtual-only pet all cow lovers should enjoy, the Polka Dot Cow. It comes with Crunchy Ship Cookies (that's the worst pun on chocolate chip I've ever heard) and a Polka Dot Piano, which is quite a pretty piece! I like, I like.

Halloween Arrives in Webkinz World!

Players logging into their accounts today should find their Halloween gifts waiting for them in their docks. 

Unless you have an Asian account; if this is the case, Halloween was yesterday. 

I won't post pictures of the Halloween Gifts until tomorrow, so nobody has the surprise ruined for them. 

Now, for more details on Halloween in Webkinz World...

• The Halloween Theme will be available until November 7, 2011. After that date, all items in the theme will disappear until next Halloween. As with any seasonal theme, there is no way to tell what will return next year and what won't, so stock up now!
• The Halloween Mission continues until November 5.
• The Clubhouse Ghost will cease to appear after today, so if you don't have your Jack-O'-Lantern yet, go and get the rest of the candy. The time has been shortened to a 1 hour wait between candies, so if you already got a few candies, then it shouldn't take too long. 
• For some reason, the Super Wheel, which has appeared in previous Halloweens since 2009, decided not to show up this year. Alas.

The Ghost returning to the Webkinz Clubhouse

 The Ghost has returned to the Clubhouse.

Every Halloween, a Ghost will appear in the Clubhouse. The way this works is that you just hang out in one room (or hop from room to room like a frog playing hopscotch, if you prefer) and eventually, the Ghost will appear. Click on him when he does show up, and he'll give you a piece of candy. Upon collecting 12 pieces of candy, the player is rewarded with a Jack-O'-Lantern they can carve and display in their WW room. In 2010, Spooky the Mazin' Hamster replaced the Ghost, but for 2011, the Ghost is giving the candy.

In past years, a piece of candy could be collected once every three hours, and the time limit would shorten as the days neared to Halloween. This year, it appears that the programmers can't decide what the time limit is--some people can collect multiple pieces of candy at a time, others must wait one hour between candies, others must wait three. Ganz has acknowledged this issue and has reported that they are investigating it.
Edit: It appears that the limit is sticking strictly to 3 hours between candies.


If you don't want to wait for the candy, you may buy the pieces at 1,000 eStore points (1$) apiece. It will take 36 hours to get all 12 pieces of candy if you get each piece one after the other.

One of the December 2011 Webkinz pets has been revealed at Webkinz Newz.

This pet is called the "Darling Dino", and...I have nothing more I wish to add to this. Here, have a picture.

In this Click-To-Win, you search for Spooky the Mazin' Hamster's head floating around Webkinz Newz.

Judy Moody and the Not So Bummer Summer

Alvin and the Chipmunks, Bee Movie, Snow White on Disney Blu-Ray DVD, Hoodwinked 2, HOP, and Looney Tunes have all been advertised by Ganz. I'm in no way complaining about this--the movies promoted are barely PG at the highest, and the prizes for the promotions are unique and neat.
Fans of Judy Moody and her friends will be excited for the next thing Ganz is promoting: Judy Moody and the Not So Bummer Summer. This is a movie, about Judy trying as hard as she can not to have an average summer. Ganz will be promoting this movie by redecorating one of the rooms in the Clubhouse, which goes along nicely with May being Makeover Month (according to Ganz). No other news is given.
What I, Carmen think of this: The Judy Moody books were among my favorites when I was younger, but I'm hoping that the room redecoration is only temporary.
