Two new Challenges have been added in Webkinz World.

These next few weeks, at least, will be a doozy for players keeping up with their Challenges!

The first is CampKinz Canoe Trip, which is unlocked after completing the CampKinz Counselor challenge. This Canoe Trip challenge is categorized as a Mega Challenge, which, according to WKN, has "more challenging tasks and better prizes". This challenge is the first Mega Challenge in Webkinz World!

And by Mega, they are not kidding. I just checked, and these are the first three tasks in the challenge:

Ask your friends for 30 Maps

Earn a total of 25,000 points playing Pinky's Big Adventure

And...earn a total of 250 KinzCash playing Zacky's Quest in the Arcade

Dear goodness. It's a good thing that those KinzCash and points will accumulate over plays, so you don't have to get it all in one shot. Let's get to playing, I suppose! 

The second challenge is Plumpy's Great Advice, named after the book of the same name. It is unlocked after completing the Smarty Pants challenge. If you have a free vacation ticket, save it for this challenge--you will need it. This challenge is much easier in comparison to the one above--buy a hat, buy a book, earn 3,000 points in Goober's Lab. There are, however, 6 sets of tasks.

Contrary to what the WKN article said, the Webkinz Road Trip map has not been added to the site. 

The article in question said that the Road Trip map would be added to the site on April 25, but they either haven't put it there yet, or they did and just hid it really well. 

A Retro Replay Video Challenge has been added to the POTM video, "Tiger Tiger". 

The video, which was made for the Bengal Tiger (POTM for July two years ago) featured an unidentified pink monkey wearing some sort of dress that you couldn't find anywhere else. The monkey later turned out to be a Glamorous Gorilla, which was released a few months later. And now, you can get her outfit, too!

They finally fixed that thing where when you win stuff it doesn't show up in a window

Here, here, let me explain it.

A lot of months back, Ganz added a feature where, when you won a prize from WKN, a window would appear upon logging into your account that would tell you exactly what you won. This was a really helpful feature, especially for click-to-wins with random prizes, as there is an incredibly high amount of players who had so many items in their docks that they couldn't take the time to discover what they'd won.

Unfortunately, a few months later, accounts with a certain amount of pets found that the window didn't show up for them anymore. Eventually, nobody was able to see the window.

As of today's update, my account with 16 pets on it is able to see the window! (where we discover that we've won yet another rain coat.)

And in Let's Talk Webkinz related news, sometime today, we reached our 10,000th pageview!

Plus, we got 99 pageviews in all of yesterday, which happens to be the current record on this blog. Huzzah! The viewership has been doubled!

The Spring 2012 Clothing Items Released To KinzStyle Outlet; Winter 2012 Line Retired 2 Weeks Earlier Than Announced

Not a large array of clothing this Spring, but what is offered is quite nice! I'm particularly fond of that Zum Buckled Belt.

Additionally, the entire Winter 2012 line has been retired a full update later than expected! WKN announced that these clothes would be retired from the KinzStyle Outlet on April 25, but this is apparently no longer true. You can see all of these clothes in this LTW article.

A new Roleplaying room has been added to the Clubhouse. 

This new room is called the "Glam Boutique", and it's the perfect place to let your inner girly girl frolic. (Or to stay far far away from. The WKN article uses the word "glam/glamorous" 7 times not including the headline, so...)
There are lines for a stylist, a receptionist, and a client.

Webkinz have hair. Invisible hair. It's canon!(?)

Congrats, random Jellybean Puppy/Pig/Tawny Pup/Chipmunk, you're in the news. (I'm the Okapi.)

 Webkinz has released a new Lite App for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. 

This game is called "Cloud Corral", and it's free to play up to level 5. It is not in the Webkinz World Arcade, too--app only!

Shiny Zumbuddy! His name is Zoom.

In this game, you need "ample wit and skill" to defeat those clouds sent in by Nafaria. How? We dunno; WKN wasn't too detailed. Buy purchasing the full version of Cloud Corral, you can collect KinzCash to send to your Webkinz World account.

The second half of the Creative Studio theme has been released in the W-Shop.

It consists of :

-Art Easel, 200 KC. Click on it and it will paint a picture for you.
-Art Painting Wall Art, 90 KC. Features the same scene the Art Easel paints.
-Art Station, 400 KC.
-Beanstalk Art Poster, 60 KC.

Interview With Ganz:

I just got off the phone with a lovely lady who was answering my questions about Webkinz World.

At first I tried to speak to Howard Ganz, creator of Webkinz World, himself but he was in a meeting, so I was directed to Susan.

She works for Webkinz, and she knows some of the computer designers. She was very passionate about her job. She was very helpful and I would like to say thank you!

 Interview Time!

KeiKei: I heard that the Webkinz Rockerz are supposed to have a PSI, a VIP Pass, and a Pet Specific Outfit.

Susan: Well...we are still playing around with stuff, so just keep on the lookout!

Kei: Who is running the Facebook and Twitter pages?

Susan: Bonnie is in charge of that, as well as the Newz.

Kei: Why did Mr. Howard Ganz come up with Webkinz World?

Susan: Back in 2005, kids were starting to play on the computer instead of with stuffed animals, so he came up with a way to combine stuffed animals with the computer.

Susan: There are designers for the Webkinz pets, who create everything about that pet. There's a separate team for Webkinz World itself, and another team for the Wednesday updates. When a new Webkinz pet is made, we also have seamstresses that make one of that pet, to send to the factory so the rest can be made. They are always thinking up new crazy, cool, and cute Webkinz!

For two weeks we watch as the poll results come in, and we have a winner! The contest will be a

                                              Room Designing Contest!

            First things first, I am giving you a set of fair rules that you must follow in order to participate.

After the rules I will show you how to enter, and then comes the prize list, Dates, and at the bottom of the page is the forum.

1. All room designs must be original.
2. You must fill out the whole form if you wish to enter the contest.
3. You must submit the room by the deadline. 
4. You can use ANY Webkinz world item. That includes: Rare, eStore, PSI, Exclusive, Pet of the Month, and Deluxe.
5. You can make you room ANY way you want to and it can be indoor, outdoor, treetop, or underwater.
6. Only one room per person. (You can send as many pics of the room as you want)

              We would like it better if you entered the first way but we understand if you can't.

1. Email, here is a link to our email address: Letstalkwebkinz@live.com. All you have to do is send in the answered form and the pics of your room design.
2. Comment, all you have to do is comment the answered form and the pics of your room design. The only way that you can send photos via comment is by uploading the pics to one of these websites: photobucket.com or .snapfish.com and copy and paste the web-address to the comment.

   The prizes are listed by the number, so if there is a one beside it that means it is for first place.

Webkinz World Trial Accounts Return

In yesterday's article, I mentioned that I would make a video explaining more about these trial accounts. And here it is! 

 I am so sorry about the quality.


Basic overview of trial accounts:

• They can send friend requests to full accounts. The two may then frolic together in the virtual sunshine. The trial account may also send Challenge items to the full account.
• They can purchase new rooms (I checked after the video was completed).
• They can visit Quizzy's Corner, but can't answer Signature Safari questions.
• They appear to unlock features just like a brand new, full account would. For instance, I spent about 1,000 KC at the W-Shop and unlocked the KinzStyle Outlet. A lot of the clothing options were still locked, though.
• Jumbleberry Fields was no longer an option when I logged in today.
•  The "Contact Us" page in the Kinzville Times is locked, therefore locking the ability to vote in polls, too.
• The list of games they can play are: Wheel of WOW, Polarberry Jam, Smoothie Moves, Cash Cow, Candy Bash, Tunneling Twigzy, Wacky Zingoz, Lunch Letters, and Stack 'Em Up Solitaire. They can't play locked games while they're the Game of the Day. 
• The Clubhouse and all three zones are usable; the Trading Hall is not.
• Nafaria will fly by. She actually flies by at an annoyingly high rate.
• The "New Account" Challenge is available to them.

"Think Pink"
Guinevere (my Webkinz Dreamy sheep) has been jumping up and down all week. She keeps saying "Pink! Pink! Pink! It's Pink week!". She's right everyone in Webkinz world is wearing Pink! Today in this News Letter Guinevere will show you some cute outfits, and Tips, a few secrets. Also I was talking to Jasmine (a fan of Let's Talk Webkinz) and I would like to share some things we were talking about.

Tips:

#1 "When Buying pants for a pink outfit never buy pink pants".
                              #2 "When buying a hat always remember not to buy a big one". The hat can cover up your cute outfit, and who wants that?

This week we have an outfit that is called "Rare Outfit" because all things in the outfit are rare or eStore.

Here is a "Rare Outfit"! The dress is from the eStore, the Crown is from the game "Spree!" and the glasses and shoes are eStore.

Guinevere has a few fashion secrets that she would like to share:

Secret #1 Guinevere never gets rid of any clothes, because she know that the latest fashion an change on a dime.

Secret #2 Guinevere's closet is in the dock; she believes that to have cute outfits she must be able to see all of her clothing.

Talking With Jasmine:

I was talking via email to Jasmine and I would like to share what we were talking about.
I had asked Jasmine if she liked the clothes in Webkinz World and she said they were Great, also she wishes that they could have a frilly prom-ish dress, and we both agreed that the eStore clothes cost too much. Jasmine has some ideas that Webkinz hasn't tried yet,  "I think that the clothes in Webkinz World are cute and sweet but, I wish there were more varieties of styles and maybe some more pants that aren't jeans." said Jasmine. She said that she liked the clothes shown in the Newsletter. She loves the outfit that Polly Jean Collie wears, and she wishes you could buy one like that. I had ask her to tell me about a dress that she wished that had in the outlet, and I would draw it. Here is the Jasmine Dress:

Being Lil'

There once was a Lil' Kinz hippo named Bluebelle. Bluebelle wanted to be a big hippo, so she talked to her brother named Merlin who was a Googles wizard.
"Merlin, can you make me big?" she asked.
"Sorry Bluebelle, I haven't figured out how to make a growth potion yet," Merlin replied.
"That's okay," Bluebelle sighed and slinked off to her bedroom. She decided to take a nice relaxing bath in her Wallowing Tub. Bluebelle turned the knob and warm water flowed out through the faucet. She leaned back and relaxed. But she was too little and the water went over her head and she had to stand up in the tub for a whiff of air. Then she had an idea. She turned off the faucet and climbed out of her tub. 

Bluebelle rummaged through her closet looking for her swim gear. She pulled out a Sunshine Swimsuit and goggles, pulled them on, and climbed back into her bathtub. She found that her bathtub was so big, and she was so small, that she had enough room to swim around! She turned on the water again and let it pour out so that the whole tub was filled to capacity. When she was done swimming, she got out of the tub, took off her swim stuff, dried off, and pulled on a t-shirt and jeans. Harriet walked in,
"Bluebelle, can I borrow your-uh-oh, you need a fashion makeover!" 

Harriet was a Lil' Kinz too and a HUGE fashionista, "I need to bring you to the Kinzstyle Outlet. Now," Harriet grasped Bluebelle's arm and tugged her out the door. They arrived at the Outlet, but it was so stuffed with customers that they could hardly move, "Follow me," said Harriet, and she led Bluebelle through a curtained doorway into an empty room full of the same clothes in the rest of the store, just smaller, "There isn't a lot of Lil' Kinz so the Lil' room is usually empty," explained Harriet, "and since it is, we don't have to worry about getting trampled by all the bigger Kinz. Here's a cute dress," Harriet grabbed a pink frilly jumper from a rack, then she grabbed a few other accessories, "Try these on."

Bluebelle found a dressing room and walked in. When she was done dressing, she opened the door, stepped out, and did a little spin to show off her new outfit.
"Whadya' think?" she asked Harriet.
"You look gorgeous, Blue! We're definitely buying these," exclaimed Harriet. Then she led Bluebelle back to the counter where P. J. Collie stood. All of the other Webkinz were still looking for clothes, so there wasn't any line.
"We'll get these," said Harriet as she shoved Bluebelle in front of her to show P. J. their clothing.
"Okey Dokey, that'll be 415 kinzcash," replied P. J. after she'd tallied up the clothing prices.

"What?!" exclaimed Bluebelle, but Harriet just smiled and pulled out her wallet.
"Don't worry, Bluebelle. I get a coupon each week from the Lil' Kinz society and I've been saving them just for this reason," Harriet replied as she placed a few coupons on the counter, "What's the total now?"
"75 kinzcash," said P. J. as Harriet deposited some crisp bills into her hand.
"Thank you, Harriet! And Bluebelle, you look great," P. J. Collie smiled and waved as the two sisters walked out the door.
Bluebelle grinned and said to Harriet, "I guess being little isn't as bad as I thought."
Harriet grinned back, "Nope, it's great!"

Cooking with KC

Today, Carmen will share with you some things you can add to your foods to enhance their flavor.

Mustard is a fairly common condiment, right? A staple in sandwiches and potato salad, it can also be mixed in with a bowl of instant cheese grits to boost its flavor.

If you're brave in the culinary world, then try a dab of ranch dressing with your pasta and Alfredo sauce. (wouldn't recommend it with spaghetti sauce, though.)

Mixing ranch dressing with Queso dip creates an interesting result flavor-wise.

 Try throwing peas in with pasta before serving it.

Facts 

When the carpenter ant finds itself in a battle it cannot win, it gets as close to its opponent as it can and contracts all of its muscles with such force that it self destructs! It's super effective!

There is such thing as the sound of a planet orbiting. You may wonder, "but in space, nobody can hear you scream, so how does that work?" The sound is picked up through radio waves being emitted from the planet. Take a listen to Saturn, for instance:

Wednesday Updates 1/2/12

As promised, the Valentine's Day Quest has been added to the Adventure Park for anyone to play.


However, the author's computer cannot tolerate a room with 10 Webkinz in it, much less the park with 45 Webkinz in it like the one I found myself in, so details on this new Quest will be added at a later hour, perhaps in its own post. I do know that you have to talk to Alex the Tiger to start the Quest, if this helps anyone, and that, among other neat prizes, the Grand Prize for this Quest is the Chocolate Factory Machine (which is animated, too!).

Remember that this Quest ends when February does, and afterward the Quests are limited to just AP pets, so play while you can!

Three new Exclusives have been added.

In place of the Elephant Fountain, Wading Pool, and Tractor that were retired today, three new Exclusive Items have been added to the Wish Factory. If your pet is a budding scientist, then the Time Machine is for them...make sure they read the user's manual first! Speaking of the past, the Medieval Torch is a perfect addition to that castle your pet's been working on. Or perhaps they prefer to preform? If so, then the Dance Rehearsal Costume Rack will fit nicely in their room. 

Two new Challenges have been added.

Does your pet have team spirit? If you answered yes, then there's a perfect challenge for them: the Cheerleader Tryout Challenge. This is a 3-part challenge. Also, the Kinzville Babysitter Crew Challenge is available, which contains 2 sets of tasks. This Challenge is for Deluxe members only!

Ganz introduces a Retro Video Challenge.

 This is a normal Video Challenge, featuring A Dog With A Bow In Her Hair, the POTM song for the White Terrier, the Pet of the Month for February 2010. After watching this video and answering the questions, you are awarded with a A Dog With A Bow In Her Hair album cover, previously an eStore item. Limit 1 per account per day.

Kinectimals Promotion in Webkinz World!

Kinectimals are being promoted in Webkinz World through a Video Challenge.
At Webkinz Newz, search for a Kinectimals advertisement. Click on it when you find it, and then answer the questions in the video to win a Kinectimals prize. 
The prizes include Pet Buddies, which actually follow your pet around just like Zumbuddies, animal plushies, and posters and paintings.
This promotion is open to players in the USA only.

The Coolest Thing Is Everything Rapping Contest

Ganz has just announced a new contest.

This contest is about the newest POTM video, "The Coolest Thing is Everything". A little while ago, Ganz posted a video of Webkinz employees rapping the song, and now they want Webkinz fans to join in!
To enter this contest, do the following things:

1. Download the instrumental version of "The Coolest Thing is Everything" from the article. (the link is found above; while you're at it you can watch the Webkinz employees rap too!)
2. Write your own lyrics to match the beat of the song! (there must be at least one verse in your song, otherwise it will be deemed as incomplete.)
3. Record a video rapping your version of the song! Remember, you cannot use any kind of music in your video. The instrumental is just required so you can keep to the beat. To keep to the beat without music, just wear headphones, or keep the music playing on a very low volume.

Now, for the prize...
Five winners will be chosen. They will win 10,000 KinzCash for the account of their choice, and ten Webkinz Plush pets!
The winners will be given their prizes within 30 days of winning the contest.
On top of that, the winning videos will be put together and remixed, then the completed video will be posted to Webkinz Newz, the Webkinz Newz Parent Club, and the official Webkinz YouTube Channel. 

The rules to this contest are, basically:

1. The entry submission date is from October 21st to November 21st, 2011. 
2. The submission must be in the form of a rap video, posted on YouTube in the form of a video reply to the contest video.
3. Submissions will be judged by creativity and quality.
4. The submission may not infringe any content that infringes copyrights.
5. The submission must contain original lyrics that the entrant wrote themselves.
6. The submission may not contain any inappropriate content.
7. This contest is open to residents of the USA and Canada, excluding the states of New York and Florida and the Providence of Quebec.
8. Only one entry is allowed per person.
9. Entries will be rejected if they are incomplete, submitted after the deadline, break the rules, or the entrant has submitted an entry more than once.
10. If the entrant wins, they must provide a valid address to have the Webkinz sent to within 30 days. They must provide a valid Webkinz World account for the 10,000 KinzCash within 30 days.
