Wednesday Updates 7/12/11

There is a new feature in Webkinz World: The Message Center.

Your dock will now look somewhat like this. You still have your money; I just edited mine out.

 As part of today's updates, Ganz has moved the KinzPost Mailbox and KinzChat phone to beside the Actions window, and added a new feature, the Message Center.

The Message Center is required for the most recent Challenge, the Snow Day Challenge, which will stick around until January 4, 2012.

One of the requirements for this challenge is to ask your friends for 10 cups of Candy Cane Cocoa. (or buy them at 500 eStore points apiece.) And no, you cannot ask Webkinz World hosts to help you. It does not cost anyone anything to send/receive the Cocoa. With the Message Center, you will be alerted when a friend asks you for some Candy Cane Cocoa. The Message Center will also tell you when you have a new friend request. 

Along with the Message Center is the Friend Finder. The Friend Finder will show you a list of Webkinz World players. The information displayed is their avatar, which is their current pet, a link to their My Page, the first 3 characters of their username, the first three characters of their pet's name, and the most recent day they've logged in, along with a button that, when clicked, sends a friend request to that person. You may only send 8 Friend Requests per day through the Friend Finder.

Below this list is a button that will add you to the Friend Finder list. You can add yourself, or just continue on. There are no little KinzCash bonuses or the like that will be awarded just for being on/using the Friend Finder list.

The Friend Finder is intended for use for Webkinz World players who don't have many active friends, or any friends at all, in their lists, and would like some help with Challenges, however anybody can use it.

I think the Message Center/Friend Finder are very useful. The Message Center isn't distracting, plus it makes KinzPost messages more visible, and the layout is quite nice. The Friend Finder is a very handy feature for those who need help with Challenges, yet don't want to go to the Clubhouse, or can't use KinzChat+, plus it gives no more information about you than what would be given anywhere else in Webkinz World.  I approve of these new features!

And now for some sneak-peeks of more Webkinz pets!

 This is the Dreamy Sheep, which comes with a Daydreamer's Window and a Midnight Snack. Are those coffee beans? Apparently this pet is supposed to come to stores in Spring. I'd love to see the plush, I bet it's the fuzziest thing ever, but the PSI is rather...plain. I bet it shows a vibrantly colored scene when clicked on, though. 

Now THAT is unique. This is the Sleepy Woodland Dragon, a virtual-only pet coming soon. Its PSI is a Cedar Toy Trunk, and its PSF is Crunchy Bark Bites. It's gonna look awesome in-game, just you wait. 

And this is another virtual-only pet all cow lovers should enjoy, the Polka Dot Cow. It comes with Crunchy Ship Cookies (that's the worst pun on chocolate chip I've ever heard) and a Polka Dot Piano, which is quite a pretty piece! I like, I like.

A new challenge has been added to Webkinz World.

This challenge works much like the Halloween Challenge in October. This challenge is called the "Teacher's Pet Challenge", and is school themed. I will update with the challenges and their prizes in spoilers as I find them out.

You must finish the Key to Kinzville Challenge before the Teacher's Pet Challenge will appear to you.

Have fun!

Five new Exclusive Items have been added, three have been retired.

These new items seem to have been added with being additional pieces for themes in mind!

• Classic Car Booth
• Egyptian Tomb Window
• Salt Water Aqua Table
• Snack Cart Stove

The three items that have been retired are:

•  Ambulance
• Grandfather Clock
• Ribbons and Bows Tree

To get an Exclusive prize, you must either exchange a certain amount of Wish Tokens at the Wish Machine for it, or, to get a totally random prize, adopt a new pet.

Summertime Events in Webkinz World!

The Summer Solstice will be here tomorrow on the 21st. The Solstice marks the longest day of the year--it's also when Summertime officially begins!

Here are the events for June in Webkinz World.

June 21: A Click-To-Win event at Webkinz Newz. Be on the lookout for an Orange Table, which is part of the Farm theme found in the Curio Shop. When the Table floats by, click on it and fill out the form, and you will be given an Orange Table and a Pineapple Lamp for your Webkinz World account!

June 21: Is also another Super School Day at the Kinzville Academy! Just go to the Academy and go through your classes as usual, only on Super School Day, all classes will count double!

June 28: Be certain to log into Webkinz World today for the Summer Sensation! The Summer Sensation is an event that has been celebrated in Webkinz World since 2007. Today, you will receive an exclusive Summer Sensation Prize when you log in, and you get to spin the Super Wheel!
The Super Wheel is a very anticipated event in Webkinz World. To date, it can only be spun on the following days:
Webkinz Day (April 29)
Valentine's Day (February 14)
Summer Sensation (June 28)
Veterans Day (November 11)
Christmas Day (December 25) (since 2008)
Halloween (October 31) (since 2009)
The Super Wheel normally contains a rare item, 2 Exclusive items, a retired rare item, a very expensive piece of W-shop furniture or a seasonal W-shop furniture piece (for instance, on Christmas 2010 you could win a Winter Window), and, since Halloween 2010, even an eStore item. There's even a Bear Tapestry, a very rare item indeed since it only shows up on the Super Wheel and doesn't every time. The Super Wheel has always contained 500 Kinz Cash and 750 Kinz Cash, since its addition to Webkinz World in 2006.

June 30: Daily activities switch to the Summer schedule, starting at 9AM Kinz Time, and ending at 11 PM Kinz Time.

All Day, Every Day Daily Activities Begin in Webkinz World

Happy Victoria Day to our Canadian readers!
Victoria Day is sometimes considered the beginning of Summer in Canada, which means the start of Summer in Webkinz World, too, even though observant players have noticed that the outdoor scenery changed from Spring to Summer many a week ago.

So, since Summer has begun in WW, this means that Daily Activities begin every weekend and weekday in Webkinz World at 9 AM KT, and end at 10 PM KT. What fun!

Also, today is a Super School Day at the Kinzville Academy. This means that all successful classes are considered to be 2 classes!
