Eager Beavers Announce Future Change to Kinzville!

According to Nuts and Bolts, the hosts of the game Eager Beaver, a great change that will "change the face of Kinzville" is going to occur on October 17, 2012.

We have no idea what this change is but cross your fingers that it isn't a total conversion to 3-D graphics because there will be a lot of boycotting if that happens. Most of it will be from me.

And now for something completely different: a Pokemon promotion!

I was surprised, too! To promote the US release of Pokemon Black and White 2, players who have not blocked 3rd party ads on their accounts will see a floating Pokeball from September 26 to October 21st. And the what is the prize for clicking on it? A Pokeball to put in your pet's room? An Oran Berry to feed to them (automatically increasing their health by 10)? A plush Pikachu? A Pokedex? A copy of Pokemon Special? Misty's overalls? The hat from the protagonist of Emerald, which would look adorable on your pet?






Nope. You get 50 KinzCash.

Not seeing anything else to report, so I'll add that Webkinz is really going all-out with the "Webkinz is free to play" thing. They've started running in-game ads, reported it on WKN, and updated the home page to relate.

And that demo account I started on March 22 2012 is still operational, so I'm assuming there isn't a time limit for demo accounts. Lettie, the cat who lives in that account, is having her birthday on June 27 (the day before the Summer Sensation) apparently. Woot~ I got no idea how old she is, though. (I give my pets ages based on how old I think they are, not on how long I've owned them.)

Two new Challenges have been added in Webkinz World.

These next few weeks, at least, will be a doozy for players keeping up with their Challenges!

The first is CampKinz Canoe Trip, which is unlocked after completing the CampKinz Counselor challenge. This Canoe Trip challenge is categorized as a Mega Challenge, which, according to WKN, has "more challenging tasks and better prizes". This challenge is the first Mega Challenge in Webkinz World!

And by Mega, they are not kidding. I just checked, and these are the first three tasks in the challenge:

Ask your friends for 30 Maps

Earn a total of 25,000 points playing Pinky's Big Adventure

And...earn a total of 250 KinzCash playing Zacky's Quest in the Arcade

Dear goodness. It's a good thing that those KinzCash and points will accumulate over plays, so you don't have to get it all in one shot. Let's get to playing, I suppose! 

The second challenge is Plumpy's Great Advice, named after the book of the same name. It is unlocked after completing the Smarty Pants challenge. If you have a free vacation ticket, save it for this challenge--you will need it. This challenge is much easier in comparison to the one above--buy a hat, buy a book, earn 3,000 points in Goober's Lab. There are, however, 6 sets of tasks.

Contrary to what the WKN article said, the Webkinz Road Trip map has not been added to the site. 

The article in question said that the Road Trip map would be added to the site on April 25, but they either haven't put it there yet, or they did and just hid it really well. 

A Retro Replay Video Challenge has been added to the POTM video, "Tiger Tiger". 

The video, which was made for the Bengal Tiger (POTM for July two years ago) featured an unidentified pink monkey wearing some sort of dress that you couldn't find anywhere else. The monkey later turned out to be a Glamorous Gorilla, which was released a few months later. And now, you can get her outfit, too!

They finally fixed that thing where when you win stuff it doesn't show up in a window

Here, here, let me explain it.

A lot of months back, Ganz added a feature where, when you won a prize from WKN, a window would appear upon logging into your account that would tell you exactly what you won. This was a really helpful feature, especially for click-to-wins with random prizes, as there is an incredibly high amount of players who had so many items in their docks that they couldn't take the time to discover what they'd won.

Unfortunately, a few months later, accounts with a certain amount of pets found that the window didn't show up for them anymore. Eventually, nobody was able to see the window.

As of today's update, my account with 16 pets on it is able to see the window! (where we discover that we've won yet another rain coat.)

And in Let's Talk Webkinz related news, sometime today, we reached our 10,000th pageview!

Plus, we got 99 pageviews in all of yesterday, which happens to be the current record on this blog. Huzzah! The viewership has been doubled!

The Spring 2012 Clothing Items Released To KinzStyle Outlet; Winter 2012 Line Retired 2 Weeks Earlier Than Announced

A new Roleplaying room has been added to the Clubhouse. 

This new room is called the "Glam Boutique", and it's the perfect place to let your inner girly girl frolic. (Or to stay far far away from. The WKN article uses the word "glam/glamorous" 7 times not including the headline, so...)
There are lines for a stylist, a receptionist, and a client.

Webkinz have hair. Invisible hair. It's canon!(?)

Congrats, random Jellybean Puppy/Pig/Tawny Pup/Chipmunk, you're in the news. (I'm the Okapi.)

 Webkinz has released a new Lite App for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. 

This game is called "Cloud Corral", and it's free to play up to level 5. It is not in the Webkinz World Arcade, too--app only!

Shiny Zumbuddy! His name is Zoom.

In this game, you need "ample wit and skill" to defeat those clouds sent in by Nafaria. How? We dunno; WKN wasn't too detailed. Buy purchasing the full version of Cloud Corral, you can collect KinzCash to send to your Webkinz World account.

The second half of the Creative Studio theme has been released in the W-Shop.

It consists of :

-Art Easel, 200 KC. Click on it and it will paint a picture for you.
-Art Painting Wall Art, 90 KC. Features the same scene the Art Easel paints.

The Wheel of WOW has gotten a makeover and a new system.

The "Wheel of WOW" announcement remains the same, but the Wheel of WOW got a facelift today, giving it a sleeker logo, removing the advertisements on the sides, making it spin faster, and changing the look of the windows.

A new feature has been added to the Wheel, too: apparently, by spinning the Wheel 15 times, one wins a Daily Kinzcare prize.

The first half of the Creative Studio theme has been added to the W-Shop.

Remainder of WKN Zodiac Event Prizes Revealed

Early in the month, Ganz began the Zodiac Click-To-Win event (which is currently functional, by the by), which is to run for most of the month. We only knew that we could win the whole Fire, Earth, and Water Zodiac costumes, and March 14 was an off-day, during which we'd be told what the prizes for the rest of the event are.

Ganz Announces New Alyssa's Star Challenge Prize: Golden Solar Suit

On the 11th, Ganz announced that they were going to retire the Solar Suit. This is a prize that one gathers, piece by piece, from catching comets that fly across the screen in Alyssa's Star Challenge. This prize has been available since 2008, but on February 29, it will be retired for good.

In its place will be the new Golden Star Suit, a revamped version that is obtained in the same fashion as its ancestor. This costume consists of 5 pieces--the jacket, the pants, the belt, the boots, and the helmet. This fancy fashion will make its debut in the Wednesday update of February 29.

Wednesday Updates 18/1/12

As promised, the new game, "Scrambled", is out in the Arcade for all to play. 

I express slight concern for the omelet-making chickens.

Valarie VonScribe at Webkinz Newz has posted a how-to video, in case you need a little bit of help. 
In this new game, players are given the role of a chef for a restaurant, serving omelets to hungry Webkinz customers. You earn 1 KinzCash per every 40 points. 
You are given a flat of 12 eggs at the beginning of each level, and they don't regenerate until the start of the next level, so try not to waste them! 

This is what the layout will look like.

At the beginning of each level, a customer will arrive. Click on the customer to get their order.
Wherever the customer sits is where their order appears on that metal clipboard ring up there--for instance, a customer sitting on the far left side of the screen will have their order appear on the far left side of the ring.

Now that you know the customer's order, you can begin to make it. First, click on the egg flat to put the egg in the blender. (the eggshells automatically move to the trashcan under the counter.
Next, click on the bowl with whatever filling the customer wants for their omelet. In this case, it's onion, so click on the bowl with green chunks in it, and it will be added to the blender. Finally, click on the blender to mix it up, and click on the grill in front of your pet to start frying.

At first the omelet will look like this. After a few seconds, it will turn golden brown. Click on it when it does to fold it in half, and wait until it turns golden brown again. Then, click on the customer who ordered that omelet to give it to them.

Now you have served the first customer! Repeat these steps for every customer.
Some tricks I have discovered are:
Put the filling in the blender before the eggs to save a few seconds of time.
You can multitask. For instance, take an order while mixing up the omelet, and serve the omelet to a customer while preparing another one.
If your memory is good, you can try to fry multiple omelets at the same time.
If frying multiple omelets, don't serve one to a customer while pouring another onto the grill. You'll lose the omelet you've just poured.
You can blend the omelet before the filling is all the way to the blender.

Unlike what I previously thought, the customers in the game are totally randomized Webkinz, not some of your own. However, the pet you're playing as is the chef. The game is a good choice for those who play games for KinzCash, however, it can get pretty confusing very quickly. Practice will be key for this game! 
Remember that you get a neat trophy if you get past Level 10.

There is also a Super School Day at the Kinzville Academy. During these Super School Days, every class a pet passes will count for 2 days of classes instead of 1.

After a short break, the first Wednesday updates of the year have arrived, and they bring many new and exciting additions to Webkinz World!

Four new Challenges have been added.
These Challenges are: 

• Journey to Treasure Island Challenge

This Challenge follows the theme of a pirate's adventures on the high seas in search of the legendary Treasure Island. This Challenge will be unlocked to those who have completed the golf-themed Webkinz Open Challenge. It has 4 sets of tasks to complete instead of the usual 3, so be prepared!

•    CampKinz Cookout Challenge

This Challenge is a fun trip through the forests to a CampKinz Cookout! This Challenge also has 4 sets of tasks, and will be unlocked to anyone who has already completed the Key to Kinzville.This is a Challenge that involves asking friends for assistance, much like the Christmas challenge in December.

• Goober's Assistant Challenge

This fun little Challenge features our good scientist Goober. You'll need to help him out by playing some games and collecting some items. Hope you're good at Goober's Lab! This Challenge has only 2 sets of tasks, and will be unlocked after the Meet Mr. Moo Challenge is complete.

• Egyptian Expedition Challenge

This Challenge has 3 parts, and is Deluxe Only. Players will get to prepare for a trip through Egypt, exploring the sands and finding ancient artifacts. It will be unlocked to Deluxe members who complete the All Star Astronomer Challenge.


The Winter Line has been unveiled at the KinzStyle Outlet!

With these Party Packs, one can set up a wintery party at either their house (750 KC) or at the Clubhouse (1,000 KC). 

Also, don't miss the Polka Dot Welcome Mat, sold for 200 KC at the W-Shop. This is a piece of furniture that's sold to accompany the eStore Polka Dot Theme, but it's also very easy to use with any other theme. Though you should know that it's not really good value for 200 KC, as it barely takes up a corner of a single tile, and in-room, looks more like a bunch of circles somebody spilled while crafting than anything else.

Wednesday Updates 7/12/11

There is a new feature in Webkinz World: The Message Center.

Your dock will now look somewhat like this. You still have your money; I just edited mine out.

 As part of today's updates, Ganz has moved the KinzPost Mailbox and KinzChat phone to beside the Actions window, and added a new feature, the Message Center.

The Message Center is required for the most recent Challenge, the Snow Day Challenge, which will stick around until January 4, 2012.

One of the requirements for this challenge is to ask your friends for 10 cups of Candy Cane Cocoa. (or buy them at 500 eStore points apiece.) And no, you cannot ask Webkinz World hosts to help you. It does not cost anyone anything to send/receive the Cocoa. With the Message Center, you will be alerted when a friend asks you for some Candy Cane Cocoa. The Message Center will also tell you when you have a new friend request. 

Along with the Message Center is the Friend Finder. The Friend Finder will show you a list of Webkinz World players. The information displayed is their avatar, which is their current pet, a link to their My Page, the first 3 characters of their username, the first three characters of their pet's name, and the most recent day they've logged in, along with a button that, when clicked, sends a friend request to that person. You may only send 8 Friend Requests per day through the Friend Finder.

Below this list is a button that will add you to the Friend Finder list. You can add yourself, or just continue on. There are no little KinzCash bonuses or the like that will be awarded just for being on/using the Friend Finder list.

The Friend Finder is intended for use for Webkinz World players who don't have many active friends, or any friends at all, in their lists, and would like some help with Challenges, however anybody can use it.

I think the Message Center/Friend Finder are very useful. The Message Center isn't distracting, plus it makes KinzPost messages more visible, and the layout is quite nice. The Friend Finder is a very handy feature for those who need help with Challenges, yet don't want to go to the Clubhouse, or can't use KinzChat+, plus it gives no more information about you than what would be given anywhere else in Webkinz World.  I approve of these new features!

And now for some sneak-peeks of more Webkinz pets!

 This is the Dreamy Sheep, which comes with a Daydreamer's Window and a Midnight Snack. Are those coffee beans? Apparently this pet is supposed to come to stores in Spring. I'd love to see the plush, I bet it's the fuzziest thing ever, but the PSI is rather...plain. I bet it shows a vibrantly colored scene when clicked on, though. 

Now THAT is unique. This is the Sleepy Woodland Dragon, a virtual-only pet coming soon. Its PSI is a Cedar Toy Trunk, and its PSF is Crunchy Bark Bites. It's gonna look awesome in-game, just you wait. 

And this is another virtual-only pet all cow lovers should enjoy, the Polka Dot Cow. It comes with Crunchy Ship Cookies (that's the worst pun on chocolate chip I've ever heard) and a Polka Dot Piano, which is quite a pretty piece! I like, I like.

Webkinz Newz has released the image for the Fabled Goose.

As in, Mother Goose. Note the music note shaped watermelon seeds.

 This new pet is a contest-prize-only pet, exclusive to the Parent Club, which is hosting four contests for a chance to win this pet. The Fabled Goose comes with a Story Time Throne and some Sing Along Snacks for dinner. You must be 18 or older to participate in these contests.
This pet is the third contest-prize-only pet, the first two being the Silk Sparrow and the Sparkling Pegasus, and the Fabled Goose is so far the only pet of its kind to be Parent Club exclusive.


Five new recipes have been added to the Clothing Machine.
These recipes are the Super Funky Hoodie, the Rockin' Fringe Vest, the Dazzling Neon Tutu, the Racecar Driver Outfit, and the Pretty Plaid Gown.  The images for the Racecar Driver Outfit and the Pretty Plaid Gown are currently nowhere to be found, but we can bring you the images of the first three outfits.

I am quite fond of that tutu. I bet it will match wonderfully with the Hoodie!

There is a new theme at the W-Shop. 
This theme is the "Aquatic Expedition" theme, and can only be put in underwater rooms. (if you don't have an underwater room, you need to adopt a fish or other aquatic animal to be able to buy one.)

 What's really neat about this theme is that the pieces of it glow. So far, the only pieces of the theme that can be bought are:

The rules for Spree! have changed.

Previously, when a player landed on a space for a shopping bag they already had, their turn was over.

Now, when landing on a shopping bag they already have, the player will be able to roll a special die, allowing them to move forwards or backwards, earn KinzCash, or even get a Shopping Bag they don't have!
 

Awesome!
