Wednesday Updates 29/2/12

In a minor note, the icon for the KinzChat phone is slightly edited. Now it turns completely grey when off, has a slightly more noticeable antenna, is slightly larger, and has a very small glow.

 

1. Two new Challenges have been added.
2. Nafaria has returned.
3. The T-Shirt Designer and Solar Suit have been retired.
4. The Lorax gift boxes have arrived.
5. Webkinz World has begun a promotion for Mirror Mirror.
6.  Three contests, a Peek-A-Newz event, and a Click-To-Win have been scheduled at Webkinz Newz.

Two new Challenges have been added.

Deluxe members will get a bonus "Roberta's Sleepover Party" challenge. Everyone can play "The Kinzville Caper" challenge. 
"Roberta's Sleepover Party" is unlocked after one completes the "Kinzville Babysitter Crew" challenge. "The Kinzville Caper" is unlocked after finishing the "Does the Caged Singoz Sing?" challenge.

Nafaria has returned to Webkinz World.
Be on the lookout for the bad fairy Nafaria starting on March 1. You can't know where or when, but eventually on a daily basis, Nafaria will float into view on any side of the screen. Upon clicking on her, she will offer a trade...give her a star (or two, or three, or more) from Alyssa's Star Challenge, in exchange for an exclusive prize. Be wary, though, as she may steal your stars and fly off without giving you anything! How rude. 

The T-Shirt Designer and Solar Suit have been retired.
As you know, the Solar Suit, a prize from Alyssa's Star Challenge that has been around since 2008, has been retired today. In its place is the new Golden Solar Suit, which looks quite spiffy. You can get it by playing Alyssa's Star Challenge in the Magical Forest, and by clicking on comets when (and if) they pass by.

The T-Shirt Designer has been retired (even if Pollie Jean Collie seems to have not noticed). The T-Shirt Designer was a tool that was installed in the Ganz eStore on February 10, 2010, and in Webkinz World on March 12, 2010. Its main purpose was so Webkinz fans could use the provided pets, clothing, images of hosts, items, and designs to make a T-shirt that could, later, be made into a real shirt to wear. However, it was also incredibly useful for things such as seeing how clothing looked on a certain kind of pet, making avatars to use in forums, just playing around, getting a background-free image of a Webkinz, and so much more. Not to mention that the designer was totally free to use and, when you did buy a shirt, you had the choice to throw in a Webkinz plush with code (choose from Alley Cat, Black Bear, Pink Pony, Velvety Elephant, Cocker Spaniel, Spotted Frog, Yorkie or Charcoal Cat) for an additional 5 bucks. 

The downsides to the Designer were, when actually buying the shirt, they got pretty pricey: (price list from the Ganz eStore)

Plus, they got no larger than a Youth XL.
The Designer itself hadn't been updated since August 18, 2010, and therefore was missing a huge amount of clothing and pets, not to mention that Mazin' Hamsters didn't even exist for it. (they did exist at the time, but wouldn't be playable outside of their 3-D world until October 2010).

The Lorax gift boxes have arrived.
Accounts with third-party ads disabled cannot receive this box.
Members logging in today should find a gift box from the Lorax. Opening it will give you a Woolly Mustache! Looks kind of odd on a Collie, though...

 Webkinz World has begun a promotion for Mirror Mirror.

Mirror Mirror is a Snow White movie coming to theaters March 30. Webkinz World has decided to promote it, with a Clubhouse room. As long as you live in the US and your account allows third-party ads, then you can visit. 

The features of this room include a table which, when clicked, will give you a Candied Apple (1 per day). You can also click on the movie screen to watch a trailer for the movie. Afterward, you can receive an exclusive prize--confirmed ones are the Sparkle Tiara, Blue Ball Gown, Mirror Vanity or Winged Throne. We don't yet know what they look like.

And  you can play Link'd and Checkers.  

Also, spot the flying Fancy Mirror, click on it, and a win an Apple Pop.  


For some reason, WKN claims that this promotion lasts from "February 20 to March 16". I'm just going to assume they mean February 29; otherwise they are masters at making invisible Clubhouse rooms.


Webkinz Newz has announced 3 new contests, a Click-To-Win, and a Peek-A-Newz.  

The Peek-A-Newz lasts from March 1-17. Look for Patty, the St. Patrick's Day Mazin' Hamster, and find him 5 times to win a random and exclusive prize. One per account per day, some are rarer than others, of course. The Shamrockin' Guitar was available last year, as some may recall. Nice to see it again. (also, what is that square thing? Is it a wallpaper, flooring, or napkin? ...)

Write a story telling why Rafi, Seera, or Boris is your favorite Adventure Park Host, and you could win...a signed print of your favorite character. Yeah. Not sure if there's more to that or not...


The Click-To-Win event brings back the Zodiac Outfits. They have been available many times, and in many ways, in the past. In this event, a different clothing piece will be given daily to those who find and catch the floating Spinning Zodiac Dial. (so it's a Clicky-floaty-spinny event?)
They are given in this order: pants, crown, shoes, shirt. The Fire Costume will be given over the course of March 2-5. The Water Costume will be given over the course of March 6-9. The Earth Costume will be given out over the course of March 10-13. On March 14, there will not be a Dial. It has been promised that a surprise will be announced on that date, letting us know what the prizes for March 15-21 will be.
